Birthday Fun Recap

Last weekend was great! One of the things I like for short amounts of time in New York City is the hustle and bustle. I love to walk fast, take subways and get places. There is always a lot of action and a lot of people to watch! My life up here at school during my free time is very s l o w. I'm taking some time to myself this weekend to relax after a crazy week, but I'm remembering my fun fast past weekend with a smile!

My mom flew in for three days and we had an absolute blast! Here are some highlights:
-A theater "tour" (more like a talk about the history of an old theater, kinda cool! No pictures though)
-Shopping (yes, I've nearly finished all my Christmas shopping! WOW!!!!!)

Afternoon tea at a place called Tea & Sympathy. Traditional English and sooo cute! Tea with me mum... what could be better?!
We took the ferry over to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I'd seen Lady Lib when I was 7 but I didn't remember much. Ellis Island was definitely on my list, especially since we had family go through there! It was a rainy day, and that meant it wasn't crowded. Nice!
This is where people were processed, and it looks pretty much like how it did when it was being used. I had no idea it was functioning up to 1954! Wow!
We walked A LOT! But we also enjoyed some subway rides. These got us where we wanted to go fairly quickly and we got to sit down. Every station in NYC has the name in mosaic tile. Sometimes, there are themes/designs/art! This station had all different kinds of famous peoples' hats! So fun!
We had dinner to celebrate at a place called craft.steak. Last year, we ate at craft. I LOVE the way this place is designed - it is so comfortable! Like you're in someone's chic living room space. Dessert was these cinnamon crumb donuts with blueberry compote and cream cheese ice cream. Everything about this place is amazing!
I had a GREAT time with my mom and I can't wait to see her and the rest of my family for Thanksgiving!
